Brian Warner attended a Christian school, for he felt the uncertanty in the stories or beliefs he and his fellow students were being taught. Brian wished to change to a public school though it wasnt alloud, so the rebellion set in. There was many rules to obey with in the catholic school, one of which neglected all music unless it be gospel, so Brian went to his local music store, brought as many records he could afford at the time and sold them for more at school, wasnt long after this idea that his love for music was revealed.
Once he had left school and left home, after he had experiences of changing schools, not fitting in, girls, sex, being beaten up, drugs, danger, violence and fear, He began to write into a magazine which he always enyoyed, sending short stories to the editor as often as he could, though none of them were ever accepted, the book contains a number of his pieces. He claims 'when you have friends you form a band, when your lonely, you write' Brian didn't give up,he moved to Florida where he contiued to write to various magazines, now focusing on music reviews from concerts he had been to, after a year of dissapointment his first article was finally published titled "Janes Addiction Returns to Shock Croud at Woody's"- Though little did he know that there was a word in that headline that would go on to be used several thousand times to describe his own music. Brian continued his work with journalism, writting music reviews, gaining and losing random jobs, he convinced the owner of a small night club to have an open mic night, that way he could get some exposure for his writting.
Though every monday Brian stood arkward and vulnerable on stage where he was told that his poetry he was reading was no good, although they did comment on his good voice and advised him to start a band.
From there Brian took the advise of his arrogant croud at the small night club and began looking for people whom might be interested in music and start a band with him, some of the first members he found in pubs, others were friends of those. As the band progressed with different band members, and unsucessful gigs, the more brian was sucked into the "rock and roll" world, he experimented with drugs, homosexuality, over doses, death, sex and dissapointment...as Brian grew and learnt more about himself and who he is, he realised that Brian Warner had died, and had been born again, he was now Marilyn Manson, a mixture of good and evil, ugliness and beauty, he was the Anti'christ.
