Marriage happened to me by chance and most unexpectedly. It was high time that I got married but neither my parents nor I
had come across, The Right Man for me. I had lost all hope, when one fine day, I logged on to a matrimonial website and became its member. ‘www.bharatmatrimony.com’, the
marriage portal gave many profiles and I forwarded my interest in them. Alas, all in vain. I got bored checking profiles and started losing patience. One fine day, a mail came from a boy based in Mumbai. I had shown interest in this person only because of his Mumbai base.
We started knowing each other through emails and chat sessions. We seemed to like one another and wanted to talk to know one another even
better. We exchanged our mobile numbers and in no time we became good phone friends. Letters, photos, verbal conversations continued for about 6-months. Everything was going well, when suddenly my marriage was almost settled with a Navy boy, also from Mumbai. I was feeling guilty about hurting my phone friend. I was confused and soon lost touch with the former. The Navy boy was demanding yet attractive. I met him twice and we were nearly engaged. Then he left for Mumbai but before leaving he gave me hints that he was not ready for marriage. I conveyed this message to my parents but they simply ignored. A month passed by and I was totally upset about my situation. My phone friend was trying to contact me but I was avoiding him. I felt sad.
One fine day, I received a mail from the Navy boy that he was not ready to marry me due to various reasons. I informed my family. The engagement was called off. It was festival time as Diwali was nearing. I was happy by the turn of events in my life. I revived contacts with my phone friend. He had tried to visit me in Lucknow various times but could not. Finally in December 2004, I got good news. My parents and I were invited to visit Mumbai to finalize our marriage. We had fallen in love with each other months ago. This realization came to us, late.
My father and I came to Mumbai in January 2005 and in no time we got engaged. A formal engagement was held in March 2005, in Lucknow. Our marriage took place in May 2005.
Today I am happy that I did not get married to the Navy boy because what came as a late and happy surprise could not have been better. He had kept himself hidden till January 2005, as I had not seen his photograph. This was also a mystery, which was later revealed as wonderful. THANKYOU GOD! Better late than never!
Today I believe, whatever happens happens for the good, even if it hurts you for sometime. God and his will are simply the Best. What I had never expected for me to happen happened so beautifully, I wonder even today, at times.
