the
autobiography seems to be one of its kind book written by a yogi, or a practicioner of yoga. Yogananda, though now no
more, is a guru to millions of people around the globe. In simple words he tells us like a simple story about his early life in india and his mission in america. Since early childhood the guru had a spiritual inclination and a burning desire for knowing god. In his search for a true guru, which means a spiritual guide to whom you entrust yourself who takes care of you and takes the liability of your progress ,yogananda comes across many saints and many
miracles. The guru seems as if speaking through the pages of the book live. He speaks of babaji the guru who still lives in the himalayas and is of thousands of years of age but is still youthful. He talks about lahiri mahashaya the guru who introduced kriya yoga to the modern world and he speaks of sri yukteshwar his own guru. The book is full of miracles that yogananda comes across in his life and how he discovers god through the practice of the simple technique of kriya yoga. He is entrusted with the responsibility of spreading the message of yoga to the west by babaji through sri yukteshwar's command. The book also describes how yogananda managed to spread his mission in the west. The book is lovely and uses simple language which is easy for anyone to understand.
