The Ordinary Princess

Book Review   by:Tudy     Original Author: M.M. Kaye
ª

There's Cinderella and Snow White, Rapunzel and the Little Mermaid, but my favorite Fairy Tale Princess of all is Amethyst Alexandra Augusta Araminta Adelaide Aurelia Anne (whew!), or Amy, as everyone called her.

Princess Amy is M.M. Kaye's The Ordinary Princess, who, by a strange turn of events, was given by her fairy godmother, Crustacea, a most curious gift - the gift of being ORDINARY! The story starts as many other fairy tales do - in a kingdom with a king and queen and princesses, a fabulous christening and a fairy godmother. But things become very different as Princess Amy's adventure unfolds. Her being ordinary - in looks, in temperament, in disposition, and in thinking - leads her to the most extraordinary situations for a princess. Or for an ordinary girl for that matter. From the palace, to the forest, to the kitchens where Princess Amy works to earn a living, and back again, this is a story unlike any classic fairy tale! But as you read Princess Amy's story, you realize that there are so many ordinary things that are truly wonderful - wildflowers, and summer days, good friends, and finding your one love, and being true to who you are. And you learn that happy-ever-afters do come true, even if you are an ordinary princess.
