‘Colours in Nature’ introduces children t colours and their different shades by exploring features of the nature world. The series also provides opportunities for talking about living things and their environment. The books look at a range of natural features, some of which will be familiar to the child, while others will provide a new learning experience and chance for further discussion. For example, in the birds section, my brother (who is six and not brilliantly intelligent but cleverer than average) knew what a chick was but had not heard of a cockatoo before. The thing I love most about this book is that next to the photograph in a little spiky speech bubble is the sound this creature makes, i.e. there is a bee and in the explosion shape above it is buzz.
