Tom's Midnight Garden

Book Review   by:Mej1     Original Author: Phillipa Pearce
ª

A flat in an old dull house, in a town near the Fens – what a hopeless place for a summer holiday or so Tom thinks. For here he is, all lonely and very cross, in quarantine, sent off to stay with his childless aunt and uncle, as his brother at home has measles. There is not even a garden to play in; there is only a dusty old yard which was as his uncle and aunt described ‘very poky, with rubbish bins’. This book is now considered as a classic. This thrilling and brilliantly written book has enchanted readers ever since it was first published in the year of 1958 so the book is already half a century old!
