This is the front and right cornered page ' Masala' of HT city!.... and I think you all will must like and enjoy it very much!...Kunal Kapoor is a writer.

So today What Kunal Kapoor says... Zen that's the world that changed the way Ilooked at fitness forever.but before we get there , let us start at the very beginning . the super hero covention was comming up in three months Determind to sqeeze into my newly acquired latex superhero costume. I enrolled in to the gain " 15kags in three months guaranteed' program.I went through all the possible phases . From the Invisible lat syndrome'-which is not really having back muscles but walking like you have a soccer ball under your armpits., to the 'six pack suprime syndrome'.-which is to train only  the abdominal muscels, for gating that there are loads of muscels around it that are more important. And after what felt like years of training . Dieting, sweating it out and listening to ' Eye of the tiger' , I finally felt
physically ready. Wolverine later called to tell me that hulk left early cause he felt slightly insecure.

To selebrate my success I went on a beginning trip ... Chocolates , junk food., pastries the works. Only to find myself completely out of shape. Six weeks later withe invite to the superhero charity ball in my hand . Oh God! I can't go through that program again!, I balked ! I desperate , I turned to my martial art friend Kalaripayetu Pllai" you will constantly finf your self in this cituation . THe problem is that you don't look at fitness as something that helps your overall growth . It's only something that helps you get in to a costume." he said calmly. " but that's what motivates me," I argude. " and I put in a insane amount of hardwork to get rippling muscles ," I said defensively., the three months of boild food and protein shakes flashing through my head. .... now he daid philosophically..." Kunal! If you want me to help you, you must first emty your cup." Confused , I looked at my coffee mug and quickly gulped the last sip." when your mind is filled with your own concepts, there is no place for new knowledge, " he said gently. " in life , as in any martial art, the first step to learning anything new is to empty your cup,"

He then introduced me to a book that would change the way I look at fitness- The zen of martial arts I opened the first page, and it read, that any martial art or physical discipline is not only a way to physical fitness, but also to spiritual serenity, mental growth and deep self-confidence." really?" I never looked  at it like that, " fitness is about enjoying the process not the product. We get so involved in setting deadlines that we forget that fitness should be a way of life. You are frustrated because you have given yourself a limited amount of time, the moment you remove the time constraint and start focussing on your workout, you will start enjoing it. Then it will mean much more than just fitting in to a costume," Pllai smiled.

I felt inspired. This Zen stuff is really cool. I am really looking forward to my next lesson' patience in motion.' And if you all need to get inspired , do get your hands on this book Zen in the martial arts by Joe Hyams. It is beautiful. Every chapter is an insightful lesson in life and martial arts.
