This is a Japanese manga version of Aladdin, the Disney animated movie based on the Arabian nights adventure. To create this graphic novel, Tokyopop prints full-color photos from actual film footage and inserts dialogue from the movie. In Aladdin (Cine Manga), the storyline is told from the point of view of beautiful Princess Jasmine, who tells how she met the street-savvy young thief named Aladdin and falls in love with the neighborhood “bad boy”. In one scene, greedy Jafar plots to marry the Sultan’s daughter so that he can get all of her riches for himself. Aladdin (pretending to be “Prince Ali”) arrives on an elephant to ask for Jasmine’s hand in marriage. But Aladdin discovers he must not only fight the evil magic of Jafar, he must also fight to win the princess over. She is less than impressed with the “stuffed-shirt swaggering peacock!” With help from a bumbling blue genie, a monkey named Abu, and a magic carpet, Aladdin finally sweeps the princess off her feet and lives happily ever after.
