This book starts with the introduction wich presents the characters: Mom, dad and kids, Nooria, the older, Parvana, the principal character, Maryam and Ali, secondaries ;Mrs. Weera and Shauzia, which appear at the end.
Before in Afganistan everything was normal. Kids attended school, dress what they wanted, but when talibans took the power, everything changed: girls couldn´t go out without the supervision of an adult, they had to cover up themselves.
Everything went normal at Parvana´s home when four soldiers introduced and took their dad. Why? He had attended school at England, speak english, dari and pastun and he was very wise, probably the only one at Afganistan.
Talibans didn´t like wise or smart people in their town and took him to jail, his mom was devastated and she only went and laid down in her toshak (an afgan bed), Parvana and Nooria had to take charge of the house.
One day they had no food in home and Parvana decided to disguise as a man and go out to the strees, she went to one of the stores and everything was ok but a soldier recognize her and she ran as fasta as she could and found Ms. Weera, her old sport teacher. Both went back home and took a strange decision: make Parvana a Hossain, it means, disguise her so no one could find out she was a girl. Next day they found Shauzia, a school friend, who did the same and that was planning to escape to France.
Shauzia goes to France, her dado goes out of prison and spread out: dad stays with Parvana, her mom with Nooria, Maryam and Ali. Personally it seems a very interesting book.
