Duck on a Bike

Book Review   by:jutta     Original Author: David Shannon
ª

A funny tale of an adventurous duck who decides to take a ride on a bike. He tours around the barnyard showing off to all the other animals. The animals think Duck is foolish however, in the end they all give bike riding a try and find they love it! The illustrations are lively and colorful. The text has a repetititve pattern. This repetition is an excellent way to support developing readers. The readers gain confidence when they can repeat the patterned portions of the text. This book is appropirate for beginning readers and makes a fun read aloud. Adult readers can read some parts and younger readers can join in. Shared reading in this way is vital to the growth of young children learning to read. It makes reading fun and is an excellent way to spend quality time with a child. As you read, you are modeling reading skills to an early reader.
