The Wonderful Wizard of Paws

Book Review by: RhinestonePen

Original Author: By: Nancy Bingham
The Wonderful Wizard of Paws is an adorable collection of short stories, written by Nancy Bingham.  It is a
delight for children of all ages and, the young at heart.  The characters are a group of cats and mice who are not particularly fond of one another and spend a great deal of time trying to out smart the other.
It is set in a magical castle with the kind, old,  Wizard of Paws as its Gate Keeper.  The Wizard has the best interests of everyone at heart and only uses his magic for the good of everyone.
The principal characters are:
o The Wizard
o  Buster White Eye (a large, mischeivious,  young cat).
o  Mama Beau (Buster''s seragate Mother).
o  Kitty Kaboodle (Beautician).
o  Snaggle Tooth (a gnarley old cat).
o  Plumpmiester (an eating machine; say fat mice).
o  Sandy Paws (Buster''s secret admirer).
o  Cheeze Smeller ( a cheese conniseur).
o  Mouse Master (the ring leader).
o  Cat Grabber (he would if he could).
The stories describe the daily activities of the characters, the interaction between the cats and the mice culminating in a Christmas party hosted by the Wonderful Wizard of Paws at the magic castle.  They drew names from the Wizard''s hat and had to buy a nice gift.  It is heartwarming to read about the gifts selected by the "Secret Santas".  The Wizard sees to it that each character draws the appropriate name and has the task of purchasing something that fulfills a desire of the recipient.
The finale involves the use of the Wizard''s magic hat and his wizardry to fulfill the wishes and dreams of the characters and is a delight to imagine.  Although the finale takes place at the castle at Christmas time, the stories themselves occur throughout the year.  The Wizard''s favorite time of the year is Christmas but he watches over the Kingdom all year round.
Everyone will enjoy the cute stories and the object lessons each one contains.  Things are not always what they seem, typecasting is not always true to form, and you will be pleased with the way all of these events occur throughout the book.
Two thumbs up on this one!
