Miss Rumphius

Book Review by: silvergreyink

Original Author: Barbara Cooney
When Miss Rumphius was still a little girl named Alice, she dreamed of visiting far away places and then living in
a house beside the sea when she grew up—just like her grandfather. However, her grandfather told her that there was still one more thing she had to do, and that is to make the world more beautiful. When Alice finally grew up, she did get to travel the world. Eventually, she found her quiet place by the sea. And when she discovered that sowing lupines was the way she could make the world more beautiful, her happiness was complete.
Miss Rumphius
, which was written and illustrated by Barbara Cooney, won the American Book Award for Hardcover Picture Book in 1983.
