Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone The first novel in the very successful Harry Potter series written
by J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter  and the Sorcerer's Stone ( published as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in the British version ) is a story about a orphaned boy who doesn't know he was a wizard.
Lily and James Potter having killed by a powerful dark wizard, Voldemort, they left their son, Harry, an orphan.  While Voldemort destroys his body in attempt to kill Harry, leaving the young Harry a lightning-bolt scar on his forehead.   For ten years Harry lives in a cupboard under the stairs in the Dusleys, not knowing he was a wizard.   Before his eleventh birthday, he receives a letter from Hogwarts, but his uncle burns it before Harry has a chance to read it.   The Dursleys, with Harry, hide in a hut on an island to make sure Harry wouldn't receive his letter.   On Harry's birthday a giant man, Hagrid, gave Harry's letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and reveals to Harry that he is a wizard.
At King's Cross Harry met the Weasleys while searching for platform nine and three quarters. The new students will arrived at Hogwarts Castle by boats led by Hagrid.  The first year will be sorted to four houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.   The Sorting hat places Harry, Ron and Hermione at Gryffindor, while Draco Malfoy get placed in Slytherin.
Professor McGonagall recruited Harry to join Gryffindor Quidditch  team as a  seeker.  Late at night Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville accidentally stumble to a locked room, only to find out that a three headed dog guarding a trapdoor on the floor was inside the mysterious locked room.  Later on they found out that the three headed dog, Fluffy, belongs to Hagrid.
At Harry's first Quidditch match, Harry's broomstick is misbehaving, nearly knocking him off.   Ron and Hermione notice Professor Snape, mouthing spells, making them believe that it is Snape who makes the broom misbehave, Hermione set Snape's robe on fire  to distract him cursing Harry's broomstick.
After their Christmas break Hermione finally finds out that Nicolas Flamel is the maker of the Philosopher's stone, realising that it was the stone Fluffy was guarding.   In their detention in the forbidden forest, Harry was saved by Firence, a centaur, in a hooded figure drinking the unicorn's blood.Later on Harry, Ron and Hermione find out that Hagrid told a hooded stranger how to get past Fluffy.  On their way to Dumbledore's office, Professor Mcgonagall told them that Dumbledore was on the Ministry of Magic.   They decided to get the stone first before Snape, who they suspect to be working for Voldemort.    After facing different enchantments on their way to the stone, Harry enter the last chamber alone.   Expecting Snape, he finds Quirrell with Voldemort on the back of his head, the one who's trying to steal the stone.   Dumbledore arrives just in time to save Harry.   Quirrell dies after Voldemort abandons his body.
On the hospital, Haary ask Dumbledore why Voldemort attempted to kill him as an infant, but Dumbledore refuse to tell him and said that he will answer Harry's question when he is older.
At the end-of-year feast, the Gryffindor wins the House Cup with the help of the points given by Dumbledore to Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville.
