Promoting Tourisim

Book Review by: dhawanbm

Original Author: Dhawanbm
Tourism plays a very important role in uplifting the economy of a nation. Tourism is a big industry today. It facilitates
employment to a large number of unemployed youth.  Tourists from far and near, domestic and foreign visit our country to have a glimpse of the rich art, culture, traditions and local sightseeing. It can be a potential foreign exchange earner if the old forts and palaces, museums and galleries etc. are developed upon modern lines.
Today our country ranks fifth as the most preferred tourist destination throughout the world. There is immense potential in tourism industry which needs to be tapped. Firstly important portals should be given a face lift and tourism information centers with multilingual guides should be available. Neat and clean wash-rooms with hygienic lounges are a must. More and more four-five star hotels be constructed with pool facilities. Roads need to be metelled with state of the art transport facilities being provided. There is a need to build more of entertainment parks and tourist attraction places like shopping malls, internet cafes etc.
Countryside is rich in heritage, art and culture, hence traditional artists like weavers should be encouraged to promote their art in a big way so as to attract foreign tourist. Rather such things of traditional art should be put on net to widen their publicity. Lakes and ponds can be desilted and developed to encourage water sports and boating. Skiing and Para-gliding should be encouraged in hills during winters.
World heritage sites like ‘The Taj Mahal’ hold great potential for promoting tourism. Perhaps historical monuments like these should be beautified and denigration of monuments should be strictly checked. Some people are in a habit of writing graffiti on public places or places of tourist interest, such activities must be prohibited. Littering of such places with garbage or waste material like plastics must be completely banned by law. Tourism Promotional Plans can be chalked out and implemented in order to get a major share of tourist inflow in the country.
