Champak is the most favorite magazine of children and well known magazine is known for imparting moral values through its
stories set in contemporary times. Though it is a children’s magazine, it does not pass off adult folk tales as stories for children. Most of adults today had enjoyed their wonderful childhood and school vacations reading Hindi issue of this popular magazine. When they grow up and have children, they tell the stories to their children. Children love this book for its short stories and colourful images. The backgrounds of most of the stories are jungle and animals. The stories are original and written by common man. Anybody can send their stories to the editor and he would select the publishable stories. The book also contains jokes, puzzles, games which that keeps us hooked and entertained. Children are also gifted by 2-3 cartoon stripes in every issue. Most popular and most published is Cheeku, the rabbit who is known for his quick wits and his friend Meeku, the mouse, who is known for being in trouble. This magazine is available in market since 1968 and being published fortnightly by the Delhi Press Group. Now it published in 8 languages, viz., Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. The cost of the magazine is only Rs.10.
