Although this publication was released as part six of The Chronicles of Narnia, “The Magician’s Nephew” was actually a
prequel to the famous story of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. London, early 1900; two
children, Diggory Kirk and Polly Plummer who met one summer and became friends. One of their unforgettable adventure was when they accidentally met Diggory’s Uncle Andrew who tricks them into using a magical ring that transport them to another a magical world of Charn. There Diggory unknowingly unleashed the sleeping Queen Jadis (soon to be The Evil Witch). The children, afraid of the evil queen, tries to escape but the queen followed them to the real world.
Upon arrival, the queen, who now looked liked a witch, reeks havoc with her new and willing servant uncle Andrew. Fortunately for us, the children tried to undo the damage they’ve done by bringing them back to the magical world. This time, a cabby and his horse accidentally tagged along. However, they have stumbled upon a new world. There they saw a lion named Aslan and in avertedly witnessed the creation of a new world . . . the world they call Narnia.
The story explains some of the questions that might arise in the story of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Like how a lamppost was created in the world of Narnia, where the wardrobe in the publication’s first book get its magical powers and how Diggory was related to the four children, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy.
