The human race is spread all over the world, from North Pole to South Pole. People belonging to
different regions and places
eat
different food. Food is anything eaten to satisfy the appetite and to meet physiological needs for growth and to maintain all body processes, and to supply energy to maintain body temperature and activity. It is also according to the climate of the region in which they live and partly according to the kind of food which their country or region produces. In India mostly people live on different types of
grain, eggs, milk or sometimes fish or meat. In Europe the people eat more of flesh and less of grain or lentils. Whereas in the arctic regions where no grain or fruit is produced, most of the races live entirely on flesh, especially fat.
Human beings are extremely adaptable to the surroundings which they live in. men of one race are able to eat food of another race, if they are brought into that place and inhabit it. Still they would prefer their own food, at least for sometime and would aspire for the same.
Especially in the hot and temperate climates, flesh and fat are not much needed, but in the arctic regions it seems to be a necessity for keeping up the heat of the body.
Some people don’t prefer to eat flesh as their religion doesn’t allow or it also depends on the custom and habit. Brahmins will not touch meat. Mohammedans and Jews will never touch pig meat. Most of the races would refuse to eat the flesh of many unclean animals, although their meat may be wholesome food. Hindus would never touch cattle meat as it is revered.
Some laugh at French as they eat frogs’ legs and some kind of snails. Australians dislike rabbits, whereas Burmese eat crocodiles and elephants.
Perhaps some people have scientific reasons for not eating various foods like parasites are found in the meat of pigs.
