Once there lived a beautiful
princess named Damang who was very fond of
perfume. She, together with her lady maids, would experiment on different
flowers and
plants to make perfume. She always smelled fresh and good especially during the
night when she entertained her suitors. One day she got sick. The quack doctors were summoned to treat her but she was not cured. She died of unknown disease.
She was
buried in the garden of her house. A week later, a strange plant grew on the spot where she was buried. The plants bore yellowish white flowers that oozed fragrant smell during the night. The people of the barangay remembered Princess Damang and named the plants Dama de Noche in honor of their princess.
