Author
This story had made Louisa M Alcott one of the world’s most famous and loved children’s classic writers of all time. She was born in the year 1832 and died in the year of 1888.
Characters
The characters in this book are both wonderful and different. The main characters are the four March sisters who are immensely unlike each other: Jo, a total tomboy, is very wild and has chestnut locks, whereas, Amy is very girly and has long straight blonde hair.
Plot
The girls’ father is away at war while they are at home and are having a very boring Christmas. They become ‘good angels’ for a large poor ill family and Mr Laurence, their elderly rich neighbour becomes their ‘good angel’. Follow the girls as they grow up and because young women whilst their father is fighting for his country.
Best things about the book
I like the bright and vivid illustrations that make the pages colourful.
Worst things about the book
I learnt that you can’t judge a book by its cover: I thought this book would have large illustration that fill most of the page and a short sentence to tell the reader about the page; but how wrong I was – this book is vice versa: it has large paragraphs and a small picture.
Rating and Recommendation
I would rate this book 7/ 10 and would recommend it to people who want to know what happens in the proper book but also want a shorter and less complicated version to read to/ with their children.
