Little Ida's Flowers were quite withered, and a student said that the flowers had been at a ball last night. He tells her that the flowers have capital balls at the large castle where the king lives in summer, and they are jumping about quite merrily almost every night. He also tells her that the flowers can fly, and the butterfflies are flowers which have flown off their stalks into the air. Little Ida thinks all this is funny, she is very fond of the student, but a lawyer who has come to pay a visit, thinks he is telling her alot of nonsens.

Then Ida took the doll Sophy out of her bed and put the flowers into it, since they were sick. The doll had to lay in the drawer.

When Ida went to bed, she fall asleep and dreamed about the flowers and the student and the lawyer, then she awoke and glanced at the door of the room where the flowers were. She thought the flowers were dancing inside, so she crept out of her bed, went to the door, and looked into the room. The flowers were really having a ball inside, they were dancing and having fun.

The next day, the flowers were death, so Ida put them in a a little paper box. She and her two cousins buryed the death flowers in the garden, so they could grow up again next summer.
