This book is not that good. The “beast” is not mentioned until past the middle and near the end. Books like “The Amber Spyglass”, “Charlotte’s Web” and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” are similar but at least from start to finish it stays in the same subject. This book goes from here to there to there to there and changes the subject on every page. But when it gets to the part about the beast, Janni Howker's The Nature of the Beast is an immensely powerful and gripping story about a community devastated by unemployment and the fear of an unknown beast roaming the moors - and which Bill Coward is determined to track down. This is an okay book to tell the truth.
