Pink for Polar Bear

Book Review by: Mej1

Original Author: Valerie Solis

First Young Puffins are a series of lively easy to read stories with colourful illustrations

on each page. They are ideal for younger children who are learning to read all by them selves. Who’s ever heard of a pink polar bear? No me and probably not you. All the other polar bears tease Nanook because she is pink. Then when is gets lost, she makes a few new friends including another different coloured polar bear…
Here are some facts about Polar Bears:

  • Polar Bears do not only live in the North Pole, they also stay in Russia, Canada and Greenland. But they spend most of their time in the cold frozen waters.

  • Polar bears are the most carnivorous part of the bear family, and most of their eating habits consist of seals and walruses.

  • Polar bears have also been observed to eat a wide variety of other wild foods, including birds, eggs, rodents, crabs, and sometimes even other polar bears.

  • Polar Bears can drift with the sea ice, and there have been sightings as far south as the Norwegian mainland and the Kuril Islands in the Sea of Okhotsk.

  • Polar bears in the zoo eat fish. If none of the above are available a polar bear will resort to plants, including berries, roots, and kelp or fish.
