The Gorgeous Georgians

Book Review by: Mej1

Original Author: Terry Deary

§         Cakes are tasty. I love cakes. The Victorians started the song: ‘Pat a Cake, Pat a Cake, Bakers Man…’

because you would put your initial on your cake (B for Baby).

§         Yorkshire Puddings are tasty. I love Yorkshire Puddings. The Victorians first baked them. Yorkshire Puddings were first invented by these clever people as a treat often as a treat for Christmas Day.

§         Toast is tasty. I love toast. The Victorians invented toast. A mean, nasty Swedish visitor said that English houses were far too cold to have just cold bread and butter.

§         Chocolate is tasty. I love chocolate. The Victorians first made chocolate as a drink mixed with wine near the beginning of the 1700s. It was later made into bars by the end of the 1700s.

These four things first came into existence during the time of the Gorging Georgians.  But there were also some quite nasty things to eat as well so they could be called the Gruesome Georgians. The Georgians dressed up very finely (for their time) so they could be the Gorgeous Georgians.
