Tom can hear. He just can't speak. Tom's enjoys the zoo, and sharing the word-less world of animals. Just by watching them
carefully, he can tell whether they're cheerful or gloomy, ravenous or scorching. When he discovers that Zanzi the female gorilla's baby is stolen, he decides it's time to speak out for animal rights. But will anyone hear him? And he talks in sign language and says that the gorillas communicate to him through sign language but is that true and will it ever be? This book was long listed for the Carnegie Award and I am not surprised. I think it should have won an award it was that good but unfortunately it did not.
