Jacob Two-Two is two plus two plus two years old. He has two
parents, two older brothers, and two older sisters.
Jacob is too
small to run errands or to help his mother or to play with his brothers
and sisters.
Because no one listens to Jacob the first time he speaks, he says
everything two times. When, therefore, Jacob’s father sends him
to the
greengrocer to buy two pounds of firm, red tomatoes, Jacob gives
the greengrocer his order two times. The greengrocer is insulted
at being told two times and Jacob is arrested and taken to
children’s
court to answer a charge of insulting behaviour to a grownup.
Once the judge wakes the jury up to find Jacob guilty, he sentences him
to two years, two months, two weeks, two days, two hours, and two
minutes in the children’s prison’s deepest, darkest dungeon.
The children’s prison is located on Slimer’s Isle where the sun never
shines. The warden is The Hooded Fang who never ceases to tell
Jacob and the two hundred other children how much he hates brats.
Slimer’s Isle is surrounded by shark- and crocodile-infested water, but
Jacob is intent on escape. He puts his trust in The Infamous Two,
the intrepid Shapiro and the fearless O’Toole, who are on the case for
Child Power.
Like all the best children’s books, Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang
is an action-packed story which any child can enjoy, but which adults
will love. While children will hang on the intricacies of the
plot and enjoy cheering for Jacob and the other children, adults will
laugh at the jokes which recall all the maxims grownups have taught
their children from the time of Adam, starting with the assertion that grownups are never
wrong.
Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang will entertain and enchant every
reader between the ages of two and ninety-two. You will want to
read it at least twice.
