Inkheart

Book Review by: artemissweety

Original Author: Cornelia Funke
What if all the characters—good or bad jump out of a book into our world? What will be the state of our world then?
This is just what we have to think about in the book “Inkheart” written by Cornelia Funke (or should I say Fenoglio?).
Mortimer or Mo—a bookbinder and “book doctor” lives with his little daughter Meggie, in a small cottage away from human habitation.
Cornelia Funke keeps up the suspense at the very beginning of the tale. Meggie never heard Mo reading aloud to her. He always hid a special book from her. Meggie always asked about her mother (whom she thought to be dead), without getting proper answers.
One morning after a visit by a stranger named Dustfinger, Meggie is forced to leave the house with Mo, without knowing the reason for their departure. They travel to her mother’s aunt’s house, where on the following night Mo is kidnapped by some strange men in black suits—working for somebody named Capricorn, who wants the book which Meggie’s father hides from her. Dustfinger, Meggie and Ellinor (Meggie’s mother’s aunt) set out on a journey to find Mo and rescue him.
What will happen next? Who is Capricorn? Who are those strange men? Who is Dustfinger? Why does Capricorn want the book? What does the book have? What does he want from Mo? Who is Fenoglio? What happened to Meggie’s Mother? Will she ever get her back? To know the answers of these questions, one simple thing can be done! Yes, we have to read the book!
A great book to treasure for all those who know the value of books and for all those whom books are life. From the best-selling author of “Theif Lord” and “Dragon Rider” comes another heartwarming tale of love, friendship and trust. “Read and enjoy” is the only thing I can say regarding this book.
