Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good very bad day is a
children's book written by Judith Viorst.  This book is an
extremely creative and entertaining book detailing, from his
perspective, Alexander's absolutely horrendous day.  This book was
written by Viorst based on her experiences with her own youngest son.

Children have bad days.  Adults have them too.  That is why
this book has universal appeal.  Alexander goes through a day, a
day that all of us have had once in a while, where nothing at all seems
to go right.  He falls on this, he breaks that, he gets in trouble
for another thing - nothing goes the way that he wants it to go.
He is determined to just pack up and move to Australia.

Alexander wonders if his day will ever turn for the better.  I
know as adults, we still often feel this way, often with much more
"terrible" things than gum in our hair.  We lose people that we
love, we get fired from our jobs, we face divorce and other family
problems, we go bankrupt.  Things happen - that is life.  We
have to, as Alexander did, realize that these kinds of days (and weeks,
and months, and even years) happen even to the best of people in
seemingly the best of circumstances.  Whether you are a kid or an
adult, you are going to have bad days.  I have not met anyone yet
who had not had at least a few.  One of the keys to these days is
learning to laugh at ourselves and not take life so seriously.  I
think that this book shows that point very well.

Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good very bad day is an
outstanding book for a person of any age to read.  Adult or child,
this book can sound very familiar to you.  And adult or child, you
can learn for Alexander's experiences throughout his day.  I would
say that this book is a must read for kids, and a must buy for
adults.  It is a very short, but to the point book.
