Finally the much awaited
book of 2006 and 2007 has released on 23rd July, 2007! “Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows” is the
seventh book in the Harry Potter series written by Joanne Kathleen Rowling. The name of the book was revealed through a hangman game in JKR’s official website. It describes the adventures of a young wizard, Harry Potter in his school, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It precedes six other books—“Harry Potter and the Soceror’s Stone”, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets”, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”. The book reached the top spot on both the Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble bestseller lists just a few hours after the date was announced on 1st February, 2007. American publisher Scholastic announced an initial print run of 12 million copies! The book will be 608 pages in the British edition and 784 pages in the US edition. And, even if it has not released yet, I can give you a pretty good idea about the plot of the book. Harry Potter— protagonist of the story has turned 17 and it is his seventh and final year of Hogwarts. Harry is very much depressed with the death of his two loved ones—Sirius Black and Albus Dumbledore in the previous years. Harry now alone has to carry out the dangerous tasks that he was to do with Dumbledore—kill all the horcruxes of Voldemort and eventually bring his nemesis. The seventh book is the darkest book of the series. Harry—all alone has to tackle his problems without anybody’s support, anyways Hermione and Ron will accompany him on his journey. And Voldemort’s powers has risen to great heights. Bill and Fleur Delacour will get married in August. Harry and Hermione plan to visit Godric Hollow. If there were seven horcruxes of Voldemort, two are already destroyed and Harry must find the others. R.A.B.’s identity will be revealed in this book. Many thought R.A.B. was Regulus Black and JKR said it was a “fine guess”and it is correct. Nothing is mentioned if Snape will return or not. JKR said that Dumbledore is dead but he will play an important role in the seventh book. There was be no Quidditch matches in this book. Rowling has also said that the fact Harry’s eyes resembles his mother’s is important, very important. She has also stated that some non-magical people will perform magic late in life due to some situations, though it will not be Petunia. Not much is told about what becomes of Ginny when she reaches her fifth year. Victor Krum will make a reappearance in the wedding of Fleur and he will be a great help to Harry. The two-way mirror and Sirius’s bike will help Harry in this book. In “Goblet of Fire”, JKR mentioned that there was a “gleam of triumph” in Dumbledore’s eyes when Harry told that Voldemort restored himself using Harry’s blood. Rowling tells that this is very significant. The meaning of “Hallows” is not known and it will not be until u touch the book. There are many theories that have been buzzing around since the name was announced. But how can something holy be deathly? That is where the question lies and JKR said in an interview that the meaning of this word would give away much of the plot of the story. Rowling also said that she doesn’t have much plans of writing an eighth book on “Harry Potter”. She even stated that some inportant characters are going to die in this book. Many think that Harry himself would be the last horcrux. Voldemort tried to plant his horcrux on Harry’s body(as Harry was to be his nemesis. But Harry couldn’t kill him if he knew he would die in the process) and evetually met his disintegration, as he had never tried making a horcrux in a human body. It must be noted that one has to kill a man to make a horcrux, so Harry’s parents were killed intentionally by him. And Trelawny’s prophecy says that “the Dark Lord shall mark him as equal”, so that must have signified the scar he gave Harry. Anyways, no one can be sure until and unless the book is read. I’ve already ordered my copy of “Deathly Hallows”, what about you?
