A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Book Review by: ceewee

Original Author: s.betsy rachel
Christmas is a time of giving and sharing with cheer and warmth. But
Ebenezer Scrooge does not think so. He dismisses
Christmas with a “bah!
Humbug!” When everybody is in a happy, generous mood, he sits in his
cold dark office, counting money. When people come to him to ask for
charity, the cold hearted stingy Scrooge refuses to part with a penny.
He cares for none and none care for him. He feels Christmas a waste of
time and money. He chases away the boys singing carols and refuses his
nephew Fred’s invitation to join for the Christmas dinner. He is
reluctant to grant his poor, hardworking clerk, Bob Cratchit his
Christmas holiday. Scrooge devours the worldly interests and rejects
the most precious thing of life like love, mercy, purity of hear, until
one night when Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas. The three
ghosts come at different times one bleak, dreary night, when the whole
of London sleeps underneath a snowy blanket. The Ghosts of Christmas by
a strange touch of magic take him through the scenes of his past,
present and show him his grave future. Scrooge shivers at his own
heartless ways and at the fruits of his past and present. He is
overcome with guilt and sorrow and turns over a new leaf. Ebenezer
Scrooge sincerely decides to honour Christmas in his heart. The cold
heartless Scrooge is replaced by warmth that Christmas provides. He
wholeheartedly enters into the spirit of Christmas, and finds great joy
that money can’t buy.
And so as Tiny Tim observed, God bless us, everyone!
