Dr.Jekyll and Mister Hyde

Book Review by: babydan

Original Author: Robert Lewis Stevenson
The story of Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde is about a doctor who discovers the formula that brings out the alter ego of a person.
According to the story, Dr. Jekyll was a gentle intelligent individual who was convinced that every human being possessed two personalities, which were of two completely different natures. He was also sure, that a formula could be developed that could biologically cause someone to switch between personalities. So Dr Jekyll created the potion, and after being unable to find a volunteer, he decides to use himself as the subject of his experiment. So he takes the potion in spite of his uneasiness about what the results would be. It so happens that it works just as he expected and brings out his evil alter ego (Mr. Hyde) Mr. Hyde is really quite the opposite to Dr. Jekyll He seems shorter with a crude scowling face, has a short temper and is inclined to partake in criminal activity. After the effects of the potion wares off he once again becomes the kind gentle Dr. Jekyll It is said that Stevenson wrote the story from notes he made about the possibilities of a man having two sides. The story and plot has become very famous and its influence can be seen in many other creative works. If you would like to have the original feel of this chilling story you should read the book.
