It is the story of Vilela, Camilo and Rita involved in a triangle love. The story begins on a Friday, November 1869 with a dialogue between Camilo and Rita. Camilo denies strongly to believe in the fortuneteller and always unadvised Rita in the humiliating way. The fortuneteller is this story characterized as a charlatan, those who speak everything that serves to everyone. It is a sinister character, which despite not having neither his name revealed (Machado’s feature), highlights as a haracter that deceive cheat the main characters. Rita believes that the fortuneteller can solve all their problems and anxieties. Camilo already at the end of the story, when they are about to have expose his case with Rita, in the apex of his desperation, ses this same fortuneteller, which cheat in the same way as cheat all its customers, even Rita. The woman uses of phrases effect and metaphors of the end of opinion wise and lady destination of Camilo, who leaves this from there confident in your words and when arrive at the apartment of Vilela find Rita dead and is killed by the friend from childhood, which is already aware of the betrayal of his wife and expected Camilo with weapon in hand.
