After all life travails and life’s journey, a point awaits a man’s life. A
ground that brings all to the power of zero. A
ground that never selects personalities nor does it select eyes. A
ground where everyone shall be, whether young or old, rich or poor, handsome or ugly, strong or weak.
Something must be paid before getting somewhere in life. So also, something takes place before one gets there. That is death. Everyday that passes by passes with a soul. We all mourn and cry for the souls. This ticket “death” has eaten up deeply in our world today. We grew up with many people, but where are some? This should be left to be answered by ground zero.
This is a ground that is never tilled up. It swallows and swallows and never gets tired. It is like a queue of people waiting to enter a plane; the rest wait and bid them good-bye. We all stay and mourn for the departed souls. Yet, our tears don’t bring them back to us. Where are the smiles of our loved ones we saw the previous days, weeks, months and years. They are worn out in ground zero. Death where is thy victory, where is thy sting?
Taking us back to the 9/, when many children, most their parents, parents lost their children, women became widows and men became widowers. What could we do? We only mourned for them. Where are all our political godfathers? Where ate the like of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Bola Ige, Harry Marshal, Funsho William? Where our religious is Father POPE John Paul II? Gone to the point. If we may ask, where are the souls of our future doctors, lawyers and professors? Why must it be them that Ground Zero would take? Where are the souls if our learned Nigerian officer who died in Donnier 28? They are all gone, gone with their wealth, gone with their knowledge, their power to ground zero.
They achieved something and stopped somewhere, leaving the rest for their loved ones to continue. Most of them left a
legacy behind, while many also left without a legacy to be remembered with. We shall one day be there. A permanent abode of rest. Let us leave a legacy behind, not only a legacy but positive on.
One thing is for sure, as long as we mourn for our loved departed souls, we shall be mourned by those w leave behind. Let’s look unto our creator that we shall make a beautiful time in Ground Zero.
