Jean Valjean was convicted because he stole a loaf of bread. He was released after 19 years. Because of his criminal records,
he was discriminated in society. The kindness of a bishop inspired
Jean Valjean to live a reformed life. After nine years, Jean Valjean became a mayor of a small town. He also put up a factory which poor people were employed. Though he did his identity by changing his name into monsieur Madeleine, A prison guard named Javert pursued Valjean because he regards that the latter was a threat to the society. In an incident, Javert saw Monsieur Madeline¡& brvbar;s strength and suspected that he and Jean Valjean are one.
            Meanwhile, Fantine one of the mayor¡¦s employee had a secret illegitimate child. The factory manager found it out and fired her from work. She was forced to work as a prostitute in order to buy medicine for Cosset who according to the Thenardiers was sick of an epidemic disease. She was about to be jailed when Monsieur Madeleine ordered jJavert to set her free.
            Javert caught an innocent man that has a resemblance with Jean Valjean, Upon knowing about this, he appeared before the court confessing that he is Jean Valjean. Javert tried to arrest him but the latter escaped. Jean Valjean took responsibility
for Cossete, Fantine¡¦s daughter. Fantine died because of agony and much stress from working. Jean Valjean took Cossete and the child  considered him as a father.
            10 years later in Paris, there was revolution prepared by the students who are led by Marius. Cossete who is now grown up to be a fine lady fell in love with Marius. Javert learns the where about of jean Valjean and continued to pursue the former mayor. Jean Valjean tried to escape Javert again but he decides  to join the revolutionists. Javert was caught by  revolutionaries as a spy. He was about to be executed when Valjean saves him and set him free.              The next day, Javert had caught JeanValjean with Marius. Javert decides to set Jean Valjean free and instead of taking Jean Valjean¡¦s life, he took his life instead, by throwing himself into the river
