The Princess' Bride

Book Review by: Isaigh

Original Author: William Goldman
This is a story of first and foremost love. Love between a young man named Westley and a young woman named Buttercup. They
fell in love with each other but because they were both poor, Westley decided that he will go to America and promised Buttercup that he will be back for her when he is already rich. But a sad news came to her that the ship that Westley was on was raided by Pirates and that everyone aboard that ship died. Buttercup mourned and promised herself not to love again. But Prince Humperdinck-Prince of Florin has other plans for her. He wanted to marry the most beautiful girl in the world, and that is Buttercup, who inspite of her grieving over the death of Westley accepted the offer of Prince Humperdinck. But three men got in the way, they kidnapped her with every intentions of killing her. But a Masked man named Dread Pirate Robert arrived to the scene and rescued her. As they were having an argument, Dread Pirate Robert uttered “as you wish” to Buttercup. With this words, she recognized him, she knew that Westley and this Pirate are one and the same, her one true Love. Unfortunately, the Prince got a hold of the both of them. He threw Westley in the dungeon and tortured him until he was half dead. Buttercup, thinking that the Prince will set Westley free if she agreed to marry him, conceded to the Prince’s demand. But as always, true love prevails, true love finds a way…. True love plus with the help of two brave men. They rescued her and so Buttercup and Westley have a very happy and romantic ending.
