Bardamu engajed himself as a soldier in the french army during the secod world war.He was injured and taken care of in Paris where he met an american named Lola. Their relations didn''t have any follow ups. Reformed, he left for Africa to
work for the Porduriere compagny. The African climate didn''t suit him, he became crazy. He set his house on fire. Recuperated by some black people, he is sold to a spanish captain then ended up in New York.
He met Lola who helped him with
money and he left for Detroit so as to
work there with Ford facturies. Tired with this life he returned to France where
he finished his studies in medecine.
He was a good physician that he dared not claim money from his patients, so he lived miserably. He drifted in some nasty affairs. The
business didn''t turn out as expected,so to vanish out of sight ,Bardamu became a ballet dancer in a music hall.
He became angaged in a psychiatric hospital held by a
crazy man who ran away to go around the world. Bardamu became the head of the institution.
The dirty business creeped to him helas. At the
end of the novel, the account was settled on the quay.
