The Hindus all over the world consider the Ramayana as a divine work. They believe that God Vishnu incarnated as Rama as human being to maintain dharma in the world. The Hindus believe that Rama is a historic man. Even the Indian politics is rotating around Rama.
E.V Ramaswami Naikar is a great social reformer and atheist and the founder of Dravida movement. His work-The Ramayana, - a myth- has got so many translations in various languages.

According to him, Ramayana is the creation of The Aryans who considered to have invaded India. Rama and Krishnan were actually two ordinary men. They were later upgraded to super humans by The Aryans. The illiterate people in India accepted their version and treated Rama and Krishnan as god.

The Aryans invaded India and rewritten history, glorified themselves, and degraded the Dravidians as monkeys.

E.V. criticizes Rama vehemently by analyzing the slokas (version) of Ramayana.E.V. establishes Rama is actually a negative character the actual villain in Ramayana. The anti –hero (in modern style) in Ramayana is Ravana. He kidnaps Sita wife of Rama (Sita is Goddess to Hindus) to Lanka his abode. Ramaswami Naikar argues that Ravana is the actual hero and he has got all the positive qualities a hero should have got. Though he kidnapped Sita he never touches her against her will.

Periyor’s argument is that the real heroes in Ramayana are Ravana and the Rakshasas and Rama is the real anti-hero he cannot be treated as God.
