Moby Dick

Book Review   by:adc1057     Original Author: Herman Meville
ª

Moby Dick by Herman Meville is known to be one of the greatest masterpiece in American Literature. It does deserve all appreciation and honour from us. Ishmael, the narrator of the story, introduces himself and talks of his fascination of sea. With the aim of joining a crew he goes to Nantucket where he meets a strange cannibal, Queequeg and they become friends. Both of them enlist themselves on Pequod, a ship owned by three captains. They are: Peleg, Bildad, and Ahab. During the course of the story, other characters are also introduced. He comes to know that Ahab’s mission of sailing into the sea is purely to have his revenge over Moby Dick, a white whale who tore his one leg. The plot unfolds with various descriptions of the sea and loads of information on whales. The story has a tragic end when the Pequod is shattered to pieces by Moby Dick and Ishmael turns out to be the sole survivor of the crew.
