California Literary Review have pressed the flesh here in noting down the connections made between Islam and Europe and found some dates to play around with with specific reference to the book .. by David Levering Lewis title/God's Crucible ....

The notion is posed of the key date of 711 being the date referred to in relation to a group of Muslim Arabs and Berbers from Morocco crossing over Northern Africa to Spain and that is how Islam reached Europe and the world has never been the same since.

The period outlined by The California Literary Review is  ... 1066-1776 and the references are to English Speaking Peoples which of course Islamic People are not ... Arabs speak Arabic and so we have the practice of denoting the distinctions between English Speaking Peoples and the rest!

I met up with the Berbers in Morocco North Africa in the early 1970s and drank tea with them ... an interesting cultural exchange and met up with an Arab Poet .. indeed I am an Engliish Poet or a Poet In English depending on which way the wind blows.

I have often had it explained to me that the reason that Spain is thus is the influence of Islam in Spain ... especially the "dark eyes" reference ... interesting review from California Literary Review .. thanks for the blog ......keep on working ...
