I have to recommend the book The House of the Spirits since it was written by a Chilean writer.
Besides, it is really entertaining because it mixes mystique together with the everyday life of a family. It also narrates a great deal of the historical events related to the coup d´etat in Chile. This novel could captivate, attract, and even make fall in love to a 16-year-old girl whose main interests at this stage of her life were her friends, her boyfriend, and the music.
