Book Review   by:heart2709     Original Authors: Shaykh Al-'Arabi ad-Darqawi (Author); Titus Burckhardt (Translator)

The book translated by Titus Burckhardt from the letters Shaikh ad-Darqāwī, the founder of a major branch of the Shadhiliyyah Order in North Africa in the 13th/19th century. It is a deep and lively insight of spriritual life into metaphysical truths that is very useful for readers who like reading about spiritual knowledge. In this book, the advice is very clear, and not difficult to understand to learn spiritual knowledge and the method about practical ways the Sufi path.

Reading this book may help to open mind and heart and may increase faith as well as practical guidance on the spiritual path. Instructions are very valuable, especially for those who aspire to understand the spiritual path in the spiritual life.

For me, this book as a handbook that I have saved for years and I've read over and over again whenever the opportunity arises and when I really needed a spiritual shower. In this book the reader is always reminded of the importance of dhikr or remembering of God. And only by the remembrance of God, the heart becomes peace. And when He allowed His love, then everything becomes easy.

In this book the reader is also reminded of the essence of the life. That there are physical realm and the soul realm, there is a high realm and low realm, and there are thousands of realm in addition to the natural world.

Also illustrated that the world will come after us, need and long for us when we turn away from world, as we have been crying, longing and chasing the world, but we failed.
In my view, to turn away from the world, does not mean we do not need to work in the world. We still have to study and work in this world, but the intentions and hearts is to seek pleasure of God.

By reading this book, I was helped in understanding the real meaning of life, reminded the meaning of life. Remind me to not be separated from the dhikr, and it is only by remembering of God, the heart becomes peace.
Praise to God.
