Spiderman is tells of a story of how whizkid Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive Spider and had his life dramatically changed. No longer was he an ordinary science geek but he became the amazing Spiderman, one of the most famous superheroes of all time. He was now imbued with superhuman strength, spider sense, increased agility and the ability to scale walls.

Despite of his newfound powers, Spiderman is still just like the rest of us. He experiences the same things we do. He has his own secrets, insecurities and problems. This is what humanizes Spiderman and what has made him relevant to comic book fans.He is also one of the first teenagers to headline his own comic. Most teenagers were merely sidekicks at the time such as Aqualad and Kid Flash.Just like other superheroes, Spidey gets more than his fair share of supervillains. The most known of these are Doctor Octopus, Venom, Carnage, Rhino, Vulture, Kraven, Lizard and Mysterio. The villains are usually animal themed or are a result of misuse of scientific and technological advances. At times, the Spidey villains banded together in hopes of eliminating Spiderman. The most famous group is the Sinister Six. Spiderman fights crime alone most of the time. However, he enlists the aid of Marvel’s finest when in dire straits. He has at times been aided by Dr. strange, The Fantastic four, The X-Men and The Avengers. He also at one point in time had a sidekick, Felicia Hardy also known as the Black Cat.

Despite his fun-loving ways and quick quips, Spiderman is a tragic figure. Aside from losing the family he knew in Uncle Ben and Aunt May, he has also lost his first girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. Also, Spiderman is forever embroiled in self-conflict. He always tries to do the right thing. The problem is though that in the real world there is no exact parameters on what the right thing is.

For generations, Spiderman has evolved with the times. Though the story may have its twists and turns, I am pretty much sure that Spiderman will be here to stay. He would be around to entertain new generations of comic book aficionados.
