"Girls" is the first
comic book I've ever read that looks so much like a movie. Each frame has objects in it that are clear
and in focus, while the background falls back into fuzziness like a film shot. It's an impressive way to present a book, and combined with an enthralling plot it makes for a very good read.
I have only read the first volume in the series, which follows a young man in a
small town who encounters a lost, naked girl (woman, I would say) wandering around on an empty road at night. He takes her in, and it is the beginning of the trouble the town encounters...which spiral into death and chaos.
The true nature of the strange woman is not revealed in the first book, so I can't say anything about where the story is going. The end of the first volume is a definite cliff-hanger, though, so I'm going to try to acquire the later volumes. I suggest you do the same.
