Anyone who grew up in the sixties must remember the Galloping Gourmet.  I was a young girl.  Whatevr he was
making sounded better or at least more interesting than what I was going to have for supper.
In smart cooking, Mr. Kerr discusses his approach to cooking. Basically how can one get the most bang for the buck.  How can one eat well and enjoy eating.
He also has a lot of recipes.
