"The Mystery of the Pink Pearl" written by Satyajit Ray and translated by Gopa Majumdar is a collection of 6 stories of the famous Feluda Series. Satyajit Raj and his famous detective Feluda or Prodosh Mitter is a common name in Bengal as well as whole of India.

Prodosh Mitter, the protagonist in these stories, admits that he is highly inspired by Sherlock Holmes. And yes the stories are as interesting as Sherlock Holmes stories.

This book has 6 extra-ordinary detective stories and shows how cleverly Feluda reaches to the bottom of the truth in every occassion. Feluda has a distinct style, he keeps his findings with himself and discloses everything at the end in front of a packed audience in a very dramatic way. And yes, the readers have to keep guessing throughout each story as to what will happen next till the curtain is raised by Feluda.

In the title story- The Mystery of the Pink Pearl- two of Feluda's accomplices, Jatayu and Topse replace the original pink pearl with a fake one as they dread for Feluda's life. This results in a turn of events and shows how important they are in the plot. In the final story too - Dr.Munshi's Diary - Jatayu shows exemplary cleverness by kepping a photocopied version of the manuscript that is so vital in the story. These instances show that not only Feluda but even his accomplices are very important characters in the story.
