We know about different types of Indian dances like Kathak, Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri, Kath kali etc. and we also
know about some of gujrati dances like Garba, Tippani, Lavni, Jumar Kali dance etc.But do you know about "HOOP DANCE"? An Adivasi artist comes to Delhi for some days and he is expert in many arts. His name is Cavin lok, who come from America. He is a good musician, he is a good story taller and most important thing is that he is a brand ambassador of USIS, A United states information service. He makes peoples crazy with his art of "Hoop Dance". So first we should know something more about "Hoop dance". We can see in some of cities or in the circus that some artists play with burning rings. Sometimes, pet animals do same like that in the circus. In the "Hoop dance", there are dozen of rings, which is connected with each other and an artist does dance with music and create some wonderful pictures with help of the rings. It is not easy, because all the rings move round and round with the dance of an artist. it is really a dangerous dance because if an artist make minor mistake or forget one of his stapes, it can be possible to make a born facture it is very important for a hoop dancer to be concentrate on his dance and it needs more and more practice. In law caste of America, they start to teach the "hoop dance" from their childhood. They start to learn with only two or three rings. After that they increase the number of rings one by one. Now, we will go back to Cavin Lok, who is a great artist of "Hoop dance". He can do dance with control over twenty eight rings easily and he creates the pictures of the sun, the moon, butterflies, flowers, planets of the sky and birds in his dance. Real name of Cavin is "La kota anishinabe".the meaning of his name is "The first wake-up man". He tells that he coloured his all rings with help of four colours to create some pictures on the stage. All of their rings coloured with red, yellow, black and white colour, because he believed that in our whole life, everything is shares in four parts. Four zones, four life (from bourn to die) and four seasons.Cavin given programmes in many countries of this world. We should salute the one of a great artist of this world.
