This atlas is a joy for lovers of travel, armchair and otherwise. It not only contains the maps of each of the individual
states that one might expect to find in such a work, but also maps of most of the major city areas in each state, and some in Canada. There is also a general map of Mexico and rather detailed maps of Canada and all the Canadian provinces. In addition to these, there is a feature called the Best of the Road, wherein the editors give ideas for trips that are easily taken in leisurely day or two from various locations, as well as articles on trips for a Sunday drive, good places to eat along the way, and attractions one might otherwise have overlooked on these short or long trips on the road. There are lists of telephone numbers and websites for hotels, road conditions, tourism concierges and other useful sources of information and assistance. There is a section on Border Crossings and the information you need for this (for both Canada and Mexico, coming and going). In addition to the above useful, and even necessary information, there are tables and maps of mileage to and from various
cities, as well as driving times. This book is a rich resource and contains far more information than one would expect from its name and status as a road
atlas.
