There are over two thousand (2000) potential markets for poetry--magazines and book publishers alike--in these handy guides,
which are published every year. The series is put out by the same publishers who put out THE INTERNATIONAL DIRECTORY OF LITTLE MAGAZINES AND SMALL PRESSES and other publications in the Small Press Information Library. These books are published annually as companion volumes to the other books in their series.
There is an A to Z alphabetical listing of publishers; this is followed by a Regional Listing, first by US State and then by country; and finally, there is a Subject Listing, which shows where your type of poetry might be most welcome. These latter are very thorough and rather detailed, both for magazines and chapbook and/or book publishers. The entries not only give such basic information as name, address, contact information and the like, but also whether or not they are interested in new/unppublished poets, how many poems to submit, payment, rights, circulation, and some poets they have published recently.
It is an amazing book and very encouraging and helpful, especially to the novice poet, or one who wishes to break into print for the first time, or to do so more widely.
