America B.C. By Barry Fell: The Book Review
I would like to introduce to the reader an interesting book by Barry Fell,
underline">America
B.C.: Ancient Settlers in the New World. This interesting book poses the question, “Is
there proof for settlers coming to America before Columbus, the Vikings, or even the
current claim of the Chinese getting here first?” Barry Fell’s work says “yes.”
This book actually written in 1976, has numerous examples of ancient
languages of Europe and other continents from across the sea found in various places in
America. Fell puts a date of 3000 years before 1975 for the first settlers to reach
our continent. From the many languages he found carved into rocks found in numerous
locations in the United States, he claims Celtic, Phoenecian, Libyan, and other ancient
mariners had made their way to the United States many years before Columbus.
Also, Mr. Fell points out various Native American language similarities to the ones
from the continents across the ocean. He believes the Micmac hieroglyphic writing to be
related to Egyptian hieroglyphs, that Algonquin language is related to Basque and Celtic,
that the Pima language is related to Iberic, and the Zuni have a language related to
Libyan, for example. Fell makes comparisons between the various languages and the
similarities are actually amazing!
Other items of note in this book are the ruins found in various places around the U.S.
At Mystery Hill, New Hampshire, there was found a Celtic or Druid astronomical
Observatory and at South Royalton, Vermont, there was found a Equinoctial sunrise
temple observatory dedicated to Bel. The temple of South Woodstock, Vermont has
carvings related to the Fertility Cult of the Druids. These places seem to indicate proof
for ancient settlers, at least Druids, having come to America and left behind traces of
their culture.
A further mention must be made to the similarities of ancient carved images to
cultures from distant shores. The Libyans seem to have spread their North African art to
North America and it seems to have also been spread to the Polynesians. There are
examples of pottery figurines , as well as pectorals, carved animal figurines, and general
art work similar to Libyan art in general. Through the side-by-side comparisons the
resemblance is stunning.
Other items found with similarities to cultures from across the sea include weapons,
stone tablets found in burial mounds, monuments, rock paintings, dedication stones,
burial urns, monoliths/standing stones, masks, and more. There is a lot of proof in this
book for a foreign presence in America before any of the explorers we now know that are
credited with discovering America!
My thoughts on all this are, “Why haven’t we paid more attention to these
discoveries and made further research into them?” I wonder why this is only covered in
a book from 1975 and I can’t find any further archaeological studies of this proof? Fell
gives a clue in his own book that people were trying to say he forged some of the ancient
language carvings. He gives evidence against the accusation in the form of a photograph.
It clearly shows a simple on rock covered over with lichen before it was cleaned up. I
still wonder why no one has spoken of these finds lately.
I consider Barry Fell’s book an excellent volume on ancient settlers in America. I find
his evidence highly believable and wonder why there would be any doubt at all whether
it’s legitimate or not. After all, recent remarks have been made about how some Native
Americans resemble mongol stock and others seem to represent a cross between mongol
stock and Caucasians. Furthermore, it is interesting to note other details not mentioned
by the book, such as the development of bows and arrows, spears, and other similar
weapons and tools by the natives. The form of democracy practiced by Iroquois was
similar to democracy developed by the Europeans. Similarities of native religions such
as the Cherokees to the Jewish/Christian religion. It appears there are many items not
even mentioned in the book that might prove settlers were in America prior to the later
“supposed” discovery of it.
I find America B.C. a highly enjoyable read. I recommend it to just about everyone--
especially archeologists, historians, linguists who study ancient tongues, tourists, and
anyone who has interest in interesting historical finds. The facts and discoveries in
this book have their own place in our national museums. Trust me, this book is highly
fascinating! I’m sure everyone can agree that this book provides evidence for early
settlers visiting these shores and leaving evidence behind in local culture to be reflected
for years afterward.
