Letter to Mary,
wife of Jan III Sobieski, was written on 13.IX.1683. The
king describes in it the
battle of Vienna against
turkish troops, which were vanquished by him. In the beginning, the king tells about retreat of turkish troops. He considers, that he owes the victory to God, who watched over his troops. Next, he describes war plunder, which they gained, among them great jewellery of vizier Mustafa. After that he mentions what was the battle like. He describes victorious fight and how he managed to overcome Kara Mustafa. He writes of great joy of his
troops and glory in which he had taken part. With pride he announced her wife about the crowd cheering in his adoration and about arriving of emperor and magnates on meeting with him. The
Letter ends with loving phrase to Mary.
