A LOVELY AND FUNNY FABLE ABOVE THE POWER THAT READING HAS TO HUMANIZE.
"Firmin" of Sam Savage, touch and amuse us with the words of a filthy sewer rat. The
rat Firmin tell us how he gets humanized while reading. This
FABLE is about the power of reading that only a good reader can be able to assure. The
books are not only powerfull, they are foremost so magic than a rat can be turned into a sensitive and dreamer
HUMAN person in spite of he cannot has the appearance corresponding to his sensibility: the most illustrated rat cannot stop being a dirty rat who cannot be appreciated by a human anyway.
Firmin starts eating books by survival and he discovers that the books not only feed his body, but through the reading he can be able to live all different lives he can try. We read the Firmin''s life as a story of an old and darling friend, who doens''t forget the humour to show us his limitations as a poet, a gentleman or a lover.
The great character of this novel is its literature and its humanity. The books are one of the ways more important to grow in our condition as humans. Firmin loves, desires, dreams, plans, etc. because he reads everything he finds in his way and he feels empty when he cannot read although a leaflet.
Firmin catch directly our heart whith his reading passion and that''s why we feel with him, his worry and fear in view of the possibility of a future, not very far, the
humans finish with one of the larger things that our specie has built: the books.
